Google begins rolling out a new desktop search user interface

Google has confirmed with Search Engine Land that they have begun rolling out a new design and look for their desktop search results page. Google knowledge panel now showing videos from the web carousel

Google is now showing videos in the knowledge panel. The videos are showing up below the knowledge panel and they are titled “videos from the web.” The videos are related to the knowledge panel information that is triggered based on your query. Google testing image thumbnails in mobile search results again

They did this back in December 2014, and we know Google is constantly testing user interfaces, so this should come as no surprise. Google AdWords testing click to SMS ad extension

Google AdWords is now testing a new ad extension, similar to call ad buttons, for sending SMS or text messages to the advertiser. Here is a screen shot showing the message icon in the AdWords ad unit: Clicking on the text messaging icon will allow you to text the company that is advertising on AdWords. When you click the icon, it opens your default messaging app. It prefills the text message with the advertiser’s information.
